More great news for Derek Mason, his staff and the entire Vanderbilt football program. Dan Dawkins, the nation's top center prospect for the 2018 class, has committed to Vanderbilt.
Dan Dawkins committed to the Commodores on Thursday morning, tweeting,
"I am seriously stoked and extremely blessed to announce my commitment to Vanderbilt University, where I will be furthering both my athletic and academic career!"
Dawkins had recently visited for a Commodore spring practice section along with his prep teammate Allan Walters who had earlier committed to the Commodores. Dawkins is considered the No. 1 center prospect nationally by Rivals.com. Scout.com rates him the No. 1 center prospect in the East while 247sports.com lists him at the nation's No. 4 center prospect.
Dawkins, rated a 4-star prospect by most services including 14powers.com, was being heavily recruited with offers from Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse, Duke and Indiana in addition to Vandy. Dawkins also had significant interest from Penn State and in-state Rutgers. Dawkins was selected to the All-New Jersey Prep A team following the 2016 season.
